English 7: Students received the Spelling Program sheet to be kept in their English folder for the duration of the semester.  We discussed the program in length, and students will have spelling homework daily (all due on Friday). There will be a spelling test on Friday.   Homework: spelling worksheet -read AR

All Classes:  After journals, students are assigned AR360 (informational articles & quizzes).  They will choose & read 2 articles, take the quiz, and write an objective summary for each.  This will be due in class.    *homework - read AR

All Classes:  Students took the STAR reading assessment, continued with WPM (words per minute assessments), and voted on a class journal theme.  There will be a substitute in the classroom tomorrow.   *homework - read AR

All Classes:  Students took the mid-year MAZE comprehension assessment as well as started the WPM (words per minute) assessments.  We discussed 2nd semester activities in addition to writing in journals and completing DOL.  Students may already take AR quizzes toward semester 2 goals.  AR goals will be set by Jan. 27, after all grades have taken the STAR Reading test.  *homework - read AR

All Classes:  Final instructions for the Monster Exchange were due today.  Students will exchange instructions with another class tomorrow to recreate the monster from a set of instructions only.  AR 360 (instructional articles on Renaissance) was demonstrated, and students explored the program and articles available.  *Homework:  read AR (Goals for Semester 2 will be set in the next 2 weeks)

All Classes:  Students continued work on the Monster Exchange writing instructions on how to recreate their monster picture. Tomorrow students will peer edit and fine-tune the instructions for the final draft (due Thursday).   *Homework:  monster picture instructions (rough draft) - read AR if not yet at 100%
**TOMORROW is the last day to take an AR quiz for Semester 1 is January 11th!

1/9/17 Happy New Year!!

All Classes:  Students wrote all about Winter Vacation in their journals.  We started the Monster Exchange today.  Students create a picture of a monster, then create clear & concise instructions on how to re-create the monster.  *Homework:  colored picture of a monster - read AR if not yet at 100%
