Awards Assembly - Thursday, May 28 8:00AM

Students report to classes at 7:30AM, and enter the gym with their class by 8:00AM.  They may sit with parents or their class.  Students will be released after the assembly (approximately 10:00AM).

All Classes:  Students took the written portion of the post-test for English.  We finalized WPM assessments and completed the charts within portfolios.  *homework: read AR if not 100% complete!

All English 8:  Galileo ELA Post-test (English Final) - There is no vocabulary program this week.  Students should be completing the Anne Frank book with the study guide.  The final Anne Frank test will be Thursday.  *homework: finish Anne Frank & the study guide - read AR
All English 7: Galileo ELA Post-test (English Final) - There is no spelling program this week.  Students are working on character presentation projects with their reading groups.  This is due Thursday and is the only homework this week (if students need to take some home to complete it on time).  *homework: character presentation (due Thursday) - read AR

All English 8:  We finished STAR testing.  Students were assigned Anne Frank to pg. 220 & study guide.  This should be completed by Monday to stay on track for the semester.  *homework:  read Anne Frank to at least pg. 220 & study guide
All English 7: We finished STAR testing and took novel final tests.  Students were given some time to check grade book and work on missing/makeup work.  A few students will need to take the final on the novel Monday as they were STAR testing through the class period.  *homework: read AR

English 7A:  After DOL/Journal, students worked in cooperative reading groups to complete their novel or work on the character project.  Students reading The Giver will have a final test tomorrow.  Please study the book as well as the spelling lists associated with the novel.  *homework: study for final - read AR

English 8A:  Students presented research reports for the first half of class, and then read Anne Frank & worked on study guides for the remainder.  We will continue with the same tomorrow.  *homework: read Anne Frank to pg. 165 & work on study guide
English 8B:  After DOL/Journal, students worked on an informational reading passage within small groups.  They were expected to CLOSE read and annotate within the groups.  For the remainder of class, students read Anne Frank & worked on study guides.  We will continue with research report presentations tomorrow.  *homework: read Anne Frank to pg. 165 & work on study guide - read AR
English 7B:  After DOL/Journal, students read their class novel within cooperative reading groups.  There will be a quiz tomorrow for both Gathering Blue (through pg. 154) and The Giver (through pg. 145).  Study spelling words from list 3 (handed back today).  *homework: re-read class novel & study spelling word definitions - read AR

All English 8:  Students were given a short refresher course on entering references into Microsoft Word, as well as creating an MLA bibliography/Works Cited page.  They were given the entire period to work on the rough draft as it is due tomorrow for peer editing.  Students are expected to do some independent reading in Anne Frank this week. No vocabulary program this week.  *homework:  rough draft research report - read AR - read Anne Frank to pg. 105
All English 7: The final business letter was due and collected today.  After DOL/Journal, we discussed the spelling lists for the class novel and identified misunderstandings.  Students worked within cooperative reading groups for the remainder of the class.  *homework: spelling 5X each - read AR

All English 8:  Students took Anne Frank Quiz 2 today (open book).  The remainder of class was spent working on the rough draft of the research report (due Wednesday).  There is no vocabulary program this week due to the final research report due Friday.  Students are expected to read at least 15 pages of Anne Frank daily (whether in groups or independently). *homework:  read Anne Frank to pg. 90 - rough draft of essay - read AR
