English 8A: After DOL/Journal, students logged into the online textbook to browse tools and passages.  We'll start working in the textbook tomorrow.  Homework: - read AR
English 8B: After DOL/Journal, students explored their online textbook on pearsonrealize.com.  Assigned was note-taking on any tools/areas of the online text that will be useful.  Tomorrow, students will demonstrate these to the class.    Homework: online textbook notes - read AR

English 8A: After DOL/Journal, students watched a CLOSE Reading demonstration after reading a challenging passage. They worked on questions associated with the demonstration, which is due tomorrow.   Homework:  CLOSE Reading intro if not completed in class - read AR
English 8B: After DOL/Journal, students reviewed CLOSE Reading procedures and started a 1st Read on a challenging passage.  Assigned was reading the passage once and answering questions #1-4.  Homework: CLOSE Reading passage & quest. #1-4 - read AR

English 7A:  Most of the class period was spent completing the pre-test on A+ (a program that identifies gaps in learning and assigns lessons accordingly).  About half of the class needed to go to a computer lab to finish Galileo testing, so we did not have a normal class period.  Homework:  Signed ParentVUE sheets (they are now late) - read AR
English 7B: Students completed the MAZE comprehension assessment, we completed our Social Contract (yay!), and wrote in journals.  Homework:  Signed ParentVUE sheets (they are now late) - read AR
English 8:   After DOL/Journal, students finished correcting the writing pre-test.  We started the introduction (refresher course) on CLOSE reading and will continue this tomorrow.    Homework:  read AR

English 7:  We spent most of the class period exploring the online grade book, StudentVUE, through the student login.  We also explored Mrs. Nash's Blog:  mrsnashblog.blogspot.com
Students were also given a paper to take home with the parent login information/instructions for ParentVUE.  This paper is due signed by a parent on Monday with a note stating the process was successful or unsuccessful (and perhaps needs help).  Homework:  read AR - give parents their ParentVUE login information and bring form back signed
English 8:  We spent time exploring and reviewing the online grade book, StudentVUE, as well as Mrs. Nash's Blog:  mrsnashblog.blogspot.com
Social Contracts have been created and signed, and regular English classwork will start Monday.

8/15/17 Galileo ELA testing tomorrow!

English 7A: We finished our discussion of the student handbook, so students should be getting the handbook signature page signed & returned to class this week (for a participation grade).  Each student was checked for having the correct "required" materials for class (also a participation grade).  Homework:  read AR

English 7:  We discussed AR in depth (goal, ZPD, and how it's graded). Students in my homeroom have an AR Parent sheet to be signed and returned. Materials will be checked for a participation grade tomorrow.  Homework:  AR Parent Letter signed - read AR

ALL CLASSES: STAR reading and math testing was completed.  Students received their journals and started the first entry today (if done with STAR).   Homework:  student information sheet signed (if not already returned) & read AR
*There will be an assembly tomorrow from 12:45PM to 2:30PM.  Students will listen to presentations on the student handbook, school wide improvement goals, and a bullying/harassment presentation by Officer Eirhart.
