English 8:  After DOL/Journal, students worked on the new Anne Frank vocabulary list.  There were several students out of the room for make-up Galileo testing, so we will continue with reading Anne Frank tomorrow.   *homework: vocabulary (synonyms & antonyms) -  read AR
Teen Leadership:  A few students gave make-up speeches from last week.  We further discussed IPOSSESS and completed Emotional Intelligence self-assessments.   *homework:  affirmations if not completed in class - read AR
English 7: After DOL/Journal, students were given the new spelling list (Novel List 2) associated with the book they are reading in class.  Students read their class novel in cooperative reading groups for the remainder of the class.  *homework: spelling (synonyms & antonyms) - read AR

2/24/16 *Galileo ELA Testing TOMORROW!

English 8:  After Journal, students practiced identifying and answering questions associated with standard 8.RI.9 (comparing two conflicting texts).  They were given time to work on reading passages for annotating.   *homework: vocabulary review due Friday - passages annotated (due tomorrow!) -  read AR
Teen Leadership:  Students compared and contrasted two different speeches.  They were assigned a double-bubble thinking map to compare/contrast the speakers.  In addition, a speech was assigned for tomorrow as well.  A preparation form was handed out with the topic:  Memorable Moment.   *homework:  double bubble & speech prep. - read AR

Teen Leadership:  Students continued role play exercises for various leadership roles - what to do and what not to do in various scenarios - Lesson 12.  We will discuss good speaking skills and compare two speakers using a double-bubble tomorrow.   *homework:  - read AR
English 7: After DOL/Journal, we discussed the spelling word list and clarified misunderstandings.  Students were given a packet of 5 short passages to read & annotate before Thursday.  *homework: spelling 5 X each - passages annotated (due Thursday) - read AR

English 8:  After DOL/Journal, students were given Vocabulary Lesson 5.  We started reading Anne Frank in class after a discussion about the causes of the Holocaust.    *homework: vocab. packet - read AR
Teen Leadership:  Students learned about reframing and how it can impact self-concept.  Speech prep forms were given for tomorrow's speech - "Out of Comfort Zone" activity.  *homework: prepare speech for tomorrow - read AR
English 7: After DOL/Journal, we discussed Lesson 5 spelling words and clarified misunderstandings.  Students were introduced to their reading groups and the jobs within cooperative reading.  We will work in our reading groups tomorrow and start our class novel.  *homework: spelling worksheet-   read AR
