English 8: After DOL/Journal, students continued working in small groups to complete the QAR/Unraavel packet.  All vocabulary work is due tomorrow.  Homework:   vocab. work all due tomorrow - study for TEST - read AR

Geography 7:  We corrected GR 3-1 together in class, and students worked for the remainder of class on Glogster.   Homework:  Glogster due tomorrow! - read AR


English 7:  After DOL/Journal, students worked on word choice changes for their final essay.  The final essay is due tomorrow.  All spelling work is due tomorrow.   Homework: Final essay & all spelling work due tomorrow - study for Spelling TEST- read AR

English 8:   After DOL & Journal, we went over the QAR practice sheet.  Students were given a QAR packet to work on with a partner. We'll continue this tomorrow. Homework:  vocabulary   - read AR

Geography 7:  Students read Ch. 3 Section 1 (World Population), and then completed Guided Reading 3-1 within groups/pairs.  (no current event this week)   Homework:   GR 3-1 if not completed in class - Glogster due Friday - read AR


English 7:   After DOL & Journal, we discussed connotation vs. denotation.  Students were given the assignment of changing 8 areas (word choice changes) within their rough drafts.  They should either upgrade the word using a thesaurus, or modify a word by adding adjectives/adverbs. The final draft will be due Friday.  Homework:  8 word choice changes - spelling worksheet  -  read AR

English 8:   We corrected the vocabulary packet and discussed unfamiliar words.  Students worked in pairs to determine correct QAR on the practice reading passage.  They were assigned today to answer the questions (due tomorrow).  Homework:  vocabulary packet & QAR questions   - read AR

Geography 7:  After the bell-ringer activity, students worked with Glogster.com to get a good start on their online poster project.  This project is due Friday for presentation. (no current event this week - students should use that time for Glogster)   Homework:   Glogster due Friday - read AR


English 7:   After journal, students spent the remainder of the class peer editing narrative essays.  We will continue this tomorrow.   Homework:  spelling worksheet  -  read AR

English 8:   Students were given vocabulary packet (with word list) for Lesson 5.  The packet is due tomorrow for correcting.  QAR/Unraavel was introduced with a short reading passage.  Students should answer "type" of QAR for each question rather than actually answer it.  This is due tomorrow for further instruction.  Homework:  vocabulary packet & QAR   - read AR

Geography 7:  Students worked on vocabulary for Ch. 3  Section 1, as well as a foldable for the Chapter.  The Glogster.com project (online poster) will replace the current event for this week and is due Friday.  Homework:  Picture Vocab. if not completed in class - Glogster due Friday - read AR


English 7:    Students were given this week's spelling worksheet with word list.  We worked on DOL/Journal as well.  We spent a portion of the class discussing the purpose of the social contract, as it needed some refreshing. English 8: Students finished up A+ and turned in notes.  We discussed AR and grading to make sure the system was clearly understood.  There was a pep assembly at 8:30AM this morning.  .Homework:  - read AR

Geography 7:  Students spent most of the class period at the morning pep assembly.  The remainder of class was spent discussing the upcoming Glogster.com project & rubric.    Homework:   read AR

Geography 7:   Students read Ch. 2 Section 4 in cooperative reading groups.  Together they worked on the chart from page 63.  If not completed in class it is homework.   Homework: pg. 63 chart - current event due tomorrow - read AR


English 7:     Students learned and used first person point of view within their journals.  They practiced "sentence stretching" instead of DOL.  After reading journals, we worked on the story map for the narrative essay (part of the pre-write).  If not completed in class, this is homework.   Homework: story map pre-write -  spelling (all due Friday) -  read AR

**We were unexpectedly asked to leave the campus due to construction after school Tuesday.  I'm sorry if this caused inconvenience for students staying after to work.**

English 8:  Students took a DOL Quiz. We then corrected the vocabulary packet and started to discuss unfamiliar words, but class was cut short by the Teen Dating Violence Program.      Homework:  vocabulary (all due Friday) - read AR

Geography 7:   Students worked on pg. 38 in class (due Wed.)  They were assigned a neighborhood map which will contain all the parts of a map (title, scale, legend/key, labels/symbols, compass rose) - this will be due Thursday..  Homework:  Study for QUIZ tomorrow - current event due Friday - read AR


English 7:   Students took a DOL Quiz.  We started a pre-write activity for a narrative essay.  Students were asked to create a character, and were given a fun packet with drawings to help create this character.  The picture is due tomorrow.    Homework:  spelling worksheet  - character picture for narrative -  read AR

English 8:   We discussed the figurative language onomatopoeia, and students were able to write with these in a journal activity.  Students were given vocabulary packet (with word list) for Lesson 4.  The packet is due tomorrow for correcting.    Homework:  vocabulary packet   - read AR

Geography 7:   After the morning bell ringer activity, we corrected & discussed Guided Reading 1-2.  The assignment today was pg. 38 #1-6.  Students were given the weekly current event, which is due Friday.  Homework:  pg. 38 if not completed in class - current event due Friday - read AR

English 8:   All vocabulary work was due today.  Students took Lesson 3 vocab. TEST.  The final essay was also due today (something that has impacted my life). Extra Credit was offered to students who could show me they could log in to the teacherease.com grade book.  Homework: - read AR

Geography 7:  5-minute map quiz.  I collected the current event, and students were given time in class to complete GR 1-2 and the latitude/longitude worksheet.    Homework:  read AR


English 7:  All spelling work was due today.  Students took Lesson 3 spelling TEST.  Students were given some time to read AR, work on missing/absent work, or work on other homework.     Homework:   read AR

English 8:  After DOL/Journal, students worked on revising their essay.  We clarified the difference between denotation and connotation in vocabulary usage.  Students should create 10 word choice changes for the essay and write/type the final (due tomorrow).  Homework:  FINAL essay due tomorrow - vocabulary (all due tomorrow) - read AR

Geography 7:   Balloon Globe Quiz - students recreated the world, identifying key features (continents, oceans, grid lines, etc..) on a balloon.  They were given a fun latitude/longitude activity to work on after the quiz.  This will be due Friday with the current event.  Homework:  latitude/longitude activity -  current event due Friday - read AR


English 7:   The fragment vs complete sentence worksheet was due today.  After DOL/Journal, students learned to identify and write a compound sentence.  We created fun monster drawings to practice writing compound sentences (3 - using semicolon, 3 using comma/conjunction).  We will continue with complex sentences tomorrow.   Homework:  spelling (all due Friday) -  read AR

Geography 7:   We watched a few short videos on world map skills such as latitude/longitude, glob vs. map, map projections, etc...  Students worked on a review packet for world map skills and could work on current event if this was finished.  There will be a quiz tomorrow on the Geography Skills Handbook.  Homework:  Study for QUIZ - current event due Friday - read AR
