Teen Leadership:  Students finished giving their first speech today (About Me).  They were amazing.  Not only were students brave in giving personal speeches, but the audience gave amazing affirmations to their classmates.    *homework: - read AR

English 8:  After DOL/Journal, we corrected the vocabulary packet and discussed unfamiliar words.   QAR (Question Answer Relationship) was introduced as a new concept to a few students and refreshed from last year for some.  We'll be working with this reading strategy over the next week or so to prepare for our class novel.    *homework: vocabulary categories - read AR
Teen Leadership:  We discussed the qualities of minimum, average, and EXCEL leaders.  In addition, students participated in a trust exercise before we discussed the speech to be given tomorrow.  Students will give a one and a half minute speech about themselves. Affirmation bags were due today as well, and students wrote their first affirmations.    *homework:  prepare speech - read AR

Teen Leadership:  We talked further about the class and what to expect, as well as participated in several activities to get better acquainted with each other. We took a group class picture today.   *homework: student information sheet - read AR

English 8:   We are starting our end-of-semester assessments and completed the MAZE comprehension and began the WPM (words per minute) assessments today.  After DOL/journal, we briefly reviewed pg. 360-363 (poetry elements).  Students were assigned reading the 4 poems on pg's  366-372, and answer the "sound device" questions associated with each poem.    *homework: - read 4 poems - answer sound device questions -  read AR
Teen Leadership:  We organized the final class project and assigned partners areas of learning to create PowerPoint pages and videos detailing.    *homework: work on PowerPoint project - read AR
