English 7: Students learned about and used 'similes' within their journals today. After DOL/Journal, students partner read the story "Rikki Tikki Tavi." Homework: finish reading "Rikki Tikki Tavi" - pg. 26-42 (be prepared for an objective summary tomorrow) -read AR
English 8: Students practiced identifying and using both simile and metaphor. We worked on a packet together in class, and just the last page was assigned independently (4-line poem). Students continued reading their "Flowers for Algernon" alternate ending for a fluency grade. Permission slips were given for watching the film version of the story - these must be back by Wednesday (tomorrow) to watch the film this week.
